Hertfordshire Libraries

Hertfordshire serves a population of just over one million from a network of 47 public library buildings and 13 mobile libraries. The service has a stock of over 1.4 million items. The libraries offer a wide range of services for the whole community. People can use the library to borrow books, DVDs, magazines, music CDs, audio books, language courses, maps, music scores and playsets, find information, use the computer facilities, including internet access, attend a storytime, a baby rhyme time, a homework club, or a reading group and photocopy or send a fax.

In addition, members can borrow up to 12 items, including books, talking books, CDs, DVDs and language courses, use an internet computer free of charge and access online services from home

Hertfordshire offers a wide range of services for children: board books, picture books, story books, poetry books, information books, all the best books on cassette or CD, free Internet access, DVDs and Videos, activities such as baby rhyme times, storytimes, chatterbooks, reading groups, homework help, summer reading challenge and lots more...

All Hertfordshire libraries hold basic reference collections and information about their local communities. They also offer access to the Internet and the Online Reference Library (a collection of authoritative electronic information resources). Hertfordshire’s central reference and information library holds an extensive range of printed and electronic information resources, including books, directories, CD-ROMS, newspapers, periodicals and Internet resources. Information on local and family history is held at Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies in Hertford.

Hertfordshire decided for our software solution since it is capable of handling such a large network and their wide range of services.
